2023 Virtual Childfree Convention Topic Panels!
Plus the latest in childfree podcast episodes and more!
Hey there,
The official list of topics for the 2023 Virtual Childfree Convention is out now! The graphic is below. Feel free to share with your network! We have a parent panel this year! There were a few invited parents in last year’s live-chat audience, and it was lovely to see the respectful dialogue during the livestream. Cody and I, along with our volunteer team, have two more busy months of prep to get ready for July 29th and 30th. If you attended the Convention in 2021 or 2022 and would like to submit a testimonial that we can use to help promote the event, please email us at ChildfreeMedia@gmail.com.

Childfree Podcasts: latest episodes
Childfree Media Podcast
this week in childfree (t.w.i.c) is a live-stream show where Cody and LeNora read and react to recent articles about the childfree lifestyle-whether critical or supportive. In this episode, South Korea is experiencing an increase in people choosing the childfree, marriage-free lifestyle, Canada offers its stats on people not having kids, and the hosts continue to debate the use of Childless vs Childfree in the media.
When you get to thank your childfree heroes: LeNora shares her experience telling a family member how they inspired her to pursue a childfree life. The setting is a backyard BBQ and four of the five people there are childfree by choice! (The person with kids is her dad!)
Host Raphie shares her feelings on being a childfree woman of Color.
Childfree expert Laura Carroll and Nandita Bajaj-executive director of Population Balance, are featured panel speakers of this live-stream replay from the 2022 Virtual Childfree Convention. Panel Topic: Pronatalism (the policy or practice of encouraging the bearing of children, especially government support of a higher birthrate.) The Childfree Girls podcast (2019-2022) is now archived on the Childfree Media podcast! Three women in three separate countries challenge society's expectations of women as mothers with no-holds-barred conversations and interviews. Hosted by: Isabel Firecracker (Colombia), Kristen Tsetsi (USA), and LeNora Faye (Canada). This podcast and web series ran from 2019 through 2022. Episode one: the Childfree Girls discuss parenthood in midlife and early old age. Should old people have babies? We want to hear your opinion!
Childfree Wealth
Childfree Wealth Podcast is a show hosted by Bri Conn and Dr. Jay Zigmont, PhD, CFP®, focusing on finances for childfree and permanently childfree individuals. During the month of May, they are the topics of financial independence & retirement.
In this episode, they explore the concepts of FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) and FILE (Financial Independence Live Early) and how they differ. While both are rooted in financial independence, FIRE is focused on retiring early and FILE is focused on achieving financial independence in order to live life on your own terms, regardless of age.

Spinsterhood Reimagined
In this week's episode, I talk to childfree lifestyle advocate, LeNora Faye.
Topics that LeNora & I cover are:
how she came to work in the childfree space through her blog; the discomfort of being visible; LeNora’s experience of growing up in a cult, and how it impacted her decision to not have children; how she eventually left the cult by essentially disappearing for 10 years; how she always felt she had a calling for more; the similarities between dealing with the shame of being raised in a cult, and the shame of not having children; how being respected for choosing not to have children is something that many childfree people would appreciate; how LeNora is an introvert and subsequently requires plenty of alone time to recharge; internet trolls and how to deal with them.
We’re Not Kidding
It was an honor and a blast to interview Daina Bond for this episode of the podcast. At 52, Daina has no regrets when it comes to not having kids. She is a proud dog mom who understands the value of being selfish with her time. Having met Daina through a mutual friend in the small town that we live in reminds me that we aren't alone in this life path.

Childfree event recap
This week I attended the New York City Premiere of "My So-Called Selfish Life", the powerful and moving documentary by Therese Shechter. From the moment I arrived at the venue, I could feel the excitement in the air. The energy was electric, and I couldn't wait for the screening to start. After a warm welcome and introduction, the lights dimmed, and the film began. "My So-Called Selfish Life" was a thought-provoking and emotional documentary exploring the impact on the lives and relationships of Childfree individuals. Tackling important topics from family, politics, mental health, personal advocacy, aging, history, etc. The audience was captivated from start to finish, and there were moments of laughter, tears, and powerful reflection. After the screening, there was a Q&A session with the director and some of the cast, which gave us a deeper insight into the making of the film. Meeting new Childfree people was a wonderful addition to this experience. I met confident Childfree people that are looking, seeking, listening, and speaking their need to be seen and heard. The Childfree community is finding open doors and this event was just another invitation to enter a space of continued growth in the Childfree progress.

Closing Remarks
Last week, I posted on my ChildfreeBlog Instagram a reel of Michelle Obama talking to Oprah about her not having kids. As expected, the post blew up in the comment section. Anger, support, anger, anger, anger. I use all the comments to promote the Childfree Media newsletter, Childfree Convention, and ask questions to people who speak out against this choice of ours. (FYI - it’s spam and poor etiquette to randomly promote things under someone else’s account without permission.) One of the angry comments was from a dad. When I questioned him, I discovered he has a daughter who doesn’t want kids. Interesting!
