Eight weeks ago, that was me—my first (and hopefully last) broken bone at 38 years old. I’ve completed two weeks of physiotherapy and am now starting to walk without the cast or crutches.
Temporary loss of independence took a toll on my mental health, I’ll admit. I had help for the first ten days after surgery, for which I’m very grateful. However, I felt relieved to be on my own again once everyone left. Having someone in your house, whether temporary or long-term, affects the energy of your home. And I’m very protective of my personal space.
So, be mindful with whom you create a home life.
We celebrate Thanksgiving in October here in Canada. As I lay on my couch, with the casted leg elevated, mind numb from pain meds, I took comfort in the peace of my living space. How glad was I that I didn’t have kids to raise? I had everything I needed to make a full recovery. I don’t punch a time clock for anyone, and the Canadian healthcare system paid my hospital costs. All I had to do was rest and let my body heal.
Emergencies force you to look at what’s most important in life.
This one showed me how much autonomy and independence mean to me. And that any lover of mine must have their own house.

The 2021 Virtual Childfree Conference was a 9-hour live stream event that featured over 30 international speakers, 15 topic panels, a halftime show, and live chat! Sponsored by StreamYard, we’ve now rebranded to a convention and are working on 2022!

A reporter working on a national radio piece about the growing childfree movement on TikTok asked if I’d provide some commentary. Of course, I said yes! What excites me the most is that mainstream media is starting to notice, asking why young people are speaking out about not wanting kids.
The reporter also mentioned the word “trend.” In truth, childfree is not a trend. Childfree people have existed for a very long time. My childfree network spans ages 16 to 80 years old! Sure, some would like this “trend” to die out with my childfree generation, but, um, sorry dude, the mathematics on that wish are impossible.

Final thought
Never make drastic life decisions when you’re horny. Because once that feeling wears off and you resume everyday life, you may discover that person will erode your dreams.
