Hi there!
January is over. Who else is ready for summer? I know some of you live in warm climates, lucky ducks!
This week was a challenge to get energized. I slept a lot in between podcast editing and collab meetings. It blows my mind how long it takes to edit a 20-minute podcast.
8 hours!
Or rather, it takes me that long. I’m still new to editing.
My second oversized ottoman finally arrived. I ordered it back in October. Now I have to rearrange my living room. A great problem to have. Another great problem, reorganizing my closet to fit the new pair of high heels I bought.
I did work on childfree content, I promise.
Woohoo!
My podcast, Childfree Girls, reached 20K in downloads last week! We recorded a new episode, which comes out on February 7th, 2021!
Not the Master of My Domain
On this week’s episode of Accidental Parenthood, my brother shares his experiences living with a 2-year-old. We also discuss how important personal space is, and I confess my true feelings about watching my brother struggle in his early years of parenthood.
As I edited our conversation, I felt so grateful that things have improved for him. I also tease him about his sex life or lack thereof. You can listen to the podcast on iTunes/Apple, Spotify, and more.
Childfree pick-of-the-week
Tom James is a hilarious childfree guy who wrote a hilarious non-fiction book called “Your Children are Boring: Or How Modern Parents Ruin Everything.” He came on the Childfree Girls podcast last year, and this episode is a fan favourite. You can also listen to this episode on Spotify & iTunes/Apple Podcast.
Final thoughts
Do you know what I hate doing? COLD CALLING. Or it’s email equivalent. My philosophy is,“let the people come to me.” However, to help get the word out about the 2021 Virtual Childfree Conference, I had to reach out to other childfree groups & pages across social media. The other two co-founders did most of the leg work on Facebook. I focused on all the female-centric accounts and websites.
It’s easy to write up a message. Hitting send is another story. To be honest, it took me two days before I was ready to approach people. Not because I’m shy, I’m not. Not because I had didn’t know what to say, I was prepared.
I mean, I’m the PR Manager for f*!*S sake!
Then, I realized that I was feeling protective. My creative energy had been low, and I was feeling blah. I didn’t want to send this message with a lacklustre vibe. This event is too important.
So, I cleaned my house, made a nice supper, and had a deep sleep. I woke up the next morning feeling refreshed and energized. And, I hit send. So far, the response has been positive. Same results for the other two co-founders, they tell me.
Childfree people supporting childfree people. That’s what it’s all about!
Until next time,
LeNora Faye
