Hey there!
The funeral of a three-month-old wasn't a place I imagined having childfree conversations. Last month, I returned to my teenage hometown to support a friend who experienced a tragic loss. Most of the people at the service had not seen me in two decades. How was I going to answer the question, “What are you doing now?”
The plan was to say I have a marketing company. But that felt wrong. After years of encouraging people to speak up about their childfree choice, was I willing to diminish myself? So, I was honest.
“I'm a childfree lifestyle advocate. I chose not to have kids and now create public platforms highlighting this choice.”
To my surprise, there was no negativity. Everyone I spoke with was a parent. Many were curious to know how the childfree topic is received in other cultures. It’s not always comfortable being honest about your choice. And yet, you never know who will support you when you give them a chance.

“We resist the stereotyping of childfree people as swanning off for hedonistic holidays in exotic destinations, pockets full of disposable income… but, generally, we enjoy a freedom that most parents don’t.” — excerpt from the latest article by We are Childfree
Closing Remarks
A popular account that supports the antinatalist and childfree communities got shut down by Instagram. This is an unfortunate example of building up an audience on platforms that can delete you without discussion or warning.
