Hey Hey Hey!
The following is the “birth” announcement I posted on my social media this past week announcing my “twins” safe arrival!
“I’m overjoyed to announce the arrival of my brand new pair of dream heels. They were delivered safely to my home in Canada, all the way from Italy. It was touch and go; would they arrive as scheduled? But after a morning of pacing at the window, FedEx appeared with the bundle of joy.
As the proud owner, I thank everyone for their well-wishes and will be taking the rest of the day to walk around my townhouse in style.
In lieu of a ‘new pair of shoes’ shower, I encourage you to show kindness to yourself in whatever way is best suited.”
The purpose of posting was not just about announcing the arrival of the most stunning pair of pink satin, crystal-encrusted Mary Jane Dolce & Gabbana heels I’ve ever seen.
I wanted to make a statement about showing kindness to yourself.
For years, I have talked myself out of buying these heels. Expensive, where would I wear them, not practical—all valid points. But I still wanted them. I believe in quality but am rarely this extravagant. After years of stalking these dream shoes online, I was beyond delighted to discover they were 40% off on the D&G website. Which, even with that discount, was still more than 10X the price I’ve ever paid for shoes. Or any article of clothing. They arrived five days later.
I’ve since worn them to every virtual event I’ve attended. No joke.
Whether it be taking a nap in the middle of the day, ordering your favourite pizza and watching a movie, or booking your dream trip, showing yourself kindness sends a message to the Universe that you deserve good things.
Oftentimes, childfree people hide the things/experiences/accomplishments they are proud of and excited for. The reaction to a newborn baby or pregnancy is massive. And yet, doing something nice for yourself is seen as “selfish.”
I was heartened by the response my post got, not only from the childfree community but even from my family and friends. Everyone played along; they understood my cheeky announcement and sent their well-wishes. It was so fun.
I’m not wearing these amazing masterpieces on my feet as I write this. It’s late, and they are resting on their exclusive shelf in my closet. I did put them on today to admire them in the hall mirror. Better than any pedicure I’ve ever gotten.
Ok, enough about my new shoes! Here’s what’s going on in the childfree world!

Childfree pick-of-the-week
I’ve been letting this section of the newsletter happen at random. If nothing jumps out at me by the time I put the newsletter together, I leave this section out. So, I was pleased when the author of this article shared the link with me via Twitter. Just in the nick of time!
Childless by Choice—& I’m not a Horrible Person. - by Caitlin McColl
I love the title. Beyond that, I love what Caitlin shares about her parents’ attitude towards her childfree choice. That moved me. It’s not often that we have support from our families.
Thank you, Caitlin, for sharing your story and for sending me the link!
Final thoughts
I hosted my first solo Zoom event where people could share their childfree stories. My lifestyle brand, The Bitchy Bookkeeper, focuses on creating childfree content and spaces where people can get comfortable speaking out about their choice.
Canada, the USA, England, Sweden, and the Netherlands were in the house. It was fabulous. Women and men. Ages 17-41. Diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. The event was to be 90 minutes in length, but it lasted 2.5 hours. We could have gone longer, but some of us were starving, and my wig was getting tight, and the people in Europe needed to get to bed.
It was so fun! I will do another again soon!
Wishing you a fabulous week!
Until next time,
LeNora Faye
